Northern China Will Start To Dry Down As Crops Mature

Kansas City, August 23 (World Weather Inc.) – Many areas in northern China are abundantly to excessively wet due to waves of rain in recent weeks. Some of the precipitation has been welcome and supportive of good yielding summer crops; however, portions of northern China have been too wet and need to dry down. This is especially true for spring wheat which is maturing and beginning to be harvested and it will be necessary for drier weather to support corn, rice, sugarbeet and soybean maturation and harvesting. Additional frequent rain may impact the quality of some grain and oilseeds while slowing maturation. Additional rain is forthcoming, although it should become light enough for some net drying to begin. In the meantime, far southern China is also a bit too wet and portions of the Yangtze River Basin are dry.
