Western Europe Rain To Disrupt Harvest, Improve Planting

Kansas City, September 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Several areas in Western Europe experienced wet conditions at times this growing season, hurting production potentials for some of the winter and spring grains and oilseeds. Drier weather in more recent weeks supported a better environment for crop development, maturation and early harvesting, though rain is beginning to increase once again and waves of it will likely occur over the next week to ten days slowing crop maturation and delaying early season harvesting. Some crop quality declines will be possible in the wettest locations. The moisture will otherwise be beneficial for raising soil moisture for winter grain and oilseed planting later this autumn. In the meantime, much of Eastern Europe (outside portions of the western Balkans region) will be drier biased through the middle of next week supporting quick maturation and good harvest progress.

Central India Floods May Have Damaged Small Amount Of Crop

Kansas City, September 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Abundant rainfall was noted in portions of Telangana and northeastern Andhra Pradesh during the past week. Pockets in Telangana reported as much as 16.00 inches of rain over a 24-hour period, leading to severe flooding and landslides. Minor crop and structural damage were possible in these locations. The environment remained generally favorable for new crop development in the remaining production areas of India. Southern India will trend drier than normal during the coming week, which will be beneficial for maturation and early-season harvesting; though late season crops will need rain soon. Other locations will see a good mix of monsoonal rain and sunshine that will maintain favorable growth.
