Southeast China Harvest Will Be Impacted By Tropical System

Kansas City, September 20 (World Weather Inc.) – Maturation and harvesting is advancing under varying conditions in China. Tropical Storm Pulasan promoted significant rainfall for portions of Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Anhui, and neighboring locations earlier this week that likely slowed or delayed the harvest. East-central China was already impacted by Typhoon Bebinca earlier this month and additional rain may have further delayed the harvest and impacted crop quality or even damaged some crops. Central Inner Mongolia and a few locations in southern China also received enough rain to potentially slow or delay harvesting and fieldwork during the past week. Another tropical disturbance will slowly evolve over the South China Sea during the next few days and will promote significant rain for portions of southeastern and east-central China later this weekend and early next week.

Russia, Ukraine Dryness Will Persist Until Early October

Kansas City, September 20 (World Weather Inc.) – Harvesting of the summer grains and oilseeds advanced swiftly in much of the western Commonwealth of Independent States in recent days due to the continued dry weather. Dry weather is great for the advancement of crop maturation and harvesting, but there is a big need for rain in winter wheat, rapeseed and rye production areas and there is not much potential for it until early October in eastern Ukraine and Russia’s Southern Region.

Western Argentina Rain Will Not Be Enough To Fix Dryness

Kansas City, September 20 (World Weather Inc.) – Drought is spreading across Argentina as a large section of crop country was drier than normal in recent months. With planting season approaching or even underway in a few locations, the need for rain is high. The region will have a few opportunities for rain during the coming week with precipitation favoring southern and eastern Argentina. Precipitation will be welcome where it falls, though the driest areas will miss out on much of the rain. Planting conditions will remain less than favorable heading into October for much of the country. Winter wheat production may also be impacted if dryness persists through mid-October.
