Central U.S. Strong Wind Speeds To Prevail Into Thursday

Kansas City, October 16 (World Weather Inc.) – Strong wind speeds have developed across the U.S. Great Plains today and they will prevail through Thursday before finally diminishing. The wind may blow a little dust around in the driest areas and may contribute to limited plant moisture across wheat production areas in the Plains. That makes the Friday through Sunday rain event all the more important.

Southern India Rain Will Limit Harvesting, Fieldwork

Kansas City, October 16 (World Weather Inc.) – Although monsoonal rain has started to withdraw from India in recent weeks, wet weather in southern India and western Maharashtra likely slowed or delayed harvesting and general fieldwork. Central India and a few neighboring locations also experienced later than usual monsoonal rain that limited early-season harvesting. No significant quality impacts were suspected and yields are expected to be near or above normal across the country. A bumper soybean crop is still possible as well. Southern India and Maharashtra will remain wetter than normal through the middle of next week. Sluggish harvesting is expected, though the outlook for the Rabi crop will be favorable. Central and eastern India will also have a few opportunities for rain that may slow the harvest at times. Northern and the remaining portions of western India will experience more favorable conditions for the harvest.
