Tropical Storm Kong-Rey To Intensify Over Western Pacific

Kansas City, October 25 (World Weather Inc.) – A tropical disturbance over the Pacific Ocean was recently upgraded to Tropical Storm Kong-Rey. This system will slowly track west-northwesterly across the western Pacific Ocean through early next week, where it is expected to gradually intensify to typhoon status. Several of this morning’s forecast models suggest Kong-Rey could eventually become a strong typhoon while tracking over the western Pacific toward the middle and latter part of next week. However, there is no general consensus for the exact path the disturbance will take. Impacts to Taiwan, Japan, and even northern Philippines will be possible. The situation will be monitored closely during the next several days.

Tropical Storm Trami To Impact Hainan, Vietnam

Kansas City, October 25 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical storm Trami continued to move across the South China Sea today and will trek toward southern Hainan and central Vietnam by the end of the weekend. Model forecasts differ greatly over what happens to the storm eventually. World Weather, Inc. expects the system to weaken as it approaches Vietnam and much of its convection will be sheared off from the storm center and move into central Vietnam while the circulation center may remain off the coast for a few days.

Northwestern Mexico Drought Continues To Worsen

Kansas City, October 25 (World Weather Inc.) – Moderate to exceptional drought conditions are present across much of northwestern Mexico. Minimal precipitation has occurred since early September in the region, with reservoirs continuing to deplete due to lack of meaningful rainfall. In the next ten days, less than 0.25 inch is expected in the drought inflicted region. In the long term, drier biased conditions are expected to persist until mid-winter if ENSO conditions remain neutral as World Weather Inc. expects. Significantly more rainfall will be needed in the coming weeks to months to alleviate drought conditions, support winter crop planting and to replenish reservoir levels in northwestern Mexico.
