Argentina Crop Areas To See More Dry Pockets

Kansas City, December 10 (World Weather Inc.) – Rainfall varied significantly across the main production areas in Argentina during the past week. The main Pampas farming region generally received light amounts of precipitation outside portions of Entre Rios and southern Santa Fe. Planting advanced around the rain with over half of the soybeans and corn in the ground as of late last week. Argentina’s production areas will again see a mix of spotty rain and sunshine during the coming week that will lead to an increase in the number of areas experiencing net drying conditions. More uniform and significant rain will be needed later this month and in January to maintain the best possible production potential for this year’s summer crops.

U.S. Pacific Northwest Needs Greater Moisture By Spring

Kansas City, December 10 (World Weather Inc.) – The U.S. Pacific Northwest crop region has seen little precipitation in the past two weeks. Soil moisture is marginal to short across most of the crop region with abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions occurring in much of the region as well. Water reservoirs are also critically low in many areas throughout the Yakima Valley. Winter crops are dormant and the need for moisture is low for now, but a big improvement in soil moisture and water supply is needed by spring to protect unirrigated winter crop production potential and to support spring planting.
