Brazil Soybean Harvest Must Work Around The Rain

Kansas City, February 4 (World Weather Inc.) – It is prime time for soybean harvesting in Brazil’s center west and center south – at least for the early planted crop. Safrinha corn planting is largely dependent upon producers getting the soybean crop out of the fields in February to ensure the best possible growing conditions prior to and during the annual monsoon withdrawal in April. No extended period of dry weather is predicted over the next couple of weeks and that is liable to create some producer stress as they are forced to harvest around the rain in wet fields to get their second crops planted without a serious threat of dryness during reproduction. Seasonal rains usually end in April and if Safrinha corn and cotton are planted too late they will run the risk of reproduction with poor soil moisture and no rain. World Weather, Inc. believes corn and cotton have a fair chance of performing with a limited amount of production loss, but the next three weeks are of critical importance.

Argentina’s Risk of Severe Storms, Heavy Rain Rises Tonight

Kansas City, February 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Argentina’s atmosphere will destabilize this afternoon and there is plenty of moisture available for an explosion of strong to severe thunderstorms over southern Cordoba, southern Santa Fe and northern Buenos Aires as well as some areas in southern Entre Rios. These strong to severe thunderstorms will produce some very heavy rain, hail and damaging wind possibly resulting in some localized crop damage. The rainfall, though, may be great enough when combined with that which fell last night to seriously improve the moisture profile in a small part of this region. Other areas in Argentina to the north are bracing for a notable period of hot and dry weather that may also impact Rio Grande do Sul immediate neighboring areas.
