Brazil Dry Season Getting Underway

Kansas City, April 29 (World Weather Inc.) – Brazil will start to experience limited rainfall in the coming weeks as the drier season begins. Timely rain in recent weeks helped bolster soil moisture and will support a good environment for Safrinha corn development in the coming weeks. Periodic rain will still be needed in May and June in order to ensure favorable late-season development. Brazil’s main production areas will only have a few opportunities for spotty rain for at least the next seven days and net drying will occur. Safrinha corn development conditions will remain favorable in the short-term. Late-season harvesting of soybeans, first-season corn, and other crops will otherwise advance swiftly.

Weekly Citrus Weather For Tuesday, April 29, 2025

Kansas City, April 29 (World Weather Inc.) – Drought continues to intensify in Florida’s citrus country due to another week of limited or no rain. Irrigation continued to support relatively good development conditions. However, the need for significant rain is high. The citrus region will have a few opportunities for rain during the coming week that will ease a minor amount of the dryness. Seasonal rains are still a few weeks away and additional rain will be needed to completely fix the moisture deficits. Brazil’s citrus areas saw several waves of rain during the past week that maintained a good environment for late-season growth. Drier weather will evolve during the coming week and net drying is slated for most locations. East-central and northeastern Mexico will see a good mix of rain and sunshine during the coming week that will be beneficial for the citrus.

East Europe, Russia Small Grain, Rapeseed Freeze Assessment

Kansas City, April 29 (World Weather Inc.) – Frost and freeze conditions that developed during the weekend and continued into Tuesday morning of this week resulted in some crop damage. The impact on wheat, barley and rye was minimal, although some vegetative development was burned back. Rapeseed damage might have been a little greater following an unusually warm week of weather earlier this month. World Weather, Inc. anticipates a low impact on winter cereals, but a high impact on fruit and vegetable crops and moderate damage may have occurred to winter rapeseed in Ukraine.
