High Pressure To Bring Heatwave To East U.S., Rain To Canada

Kansas City, June 17 (World Weather Inc.) – An active jet stream and seasonal weather changes are combining this week to bring on a strong ridge of high pressure in the central United States and a trough of low pressure over British Columbia, Canada and the U.S. Pacific Northwest. These two features in a normal year could lead to stagnating weather across North America, but the jet stream is much too strong to allow a persistent ridge of high pressure over the central United States – at least not now. The ridge and trough will work together as they move from west to east across North America resulting in a heat wave for the central and eastern U.S. and the best chance for significant rain in Canada’s dry region seen this year.

India Early June Rainfall Disappoints; Too Soon To Worry

Kansas City, June 16 (World Weather Inc.) – India rainfall in the first half of June was a little disappointing for some producers, but after an unusually wet May early season planting progress moved along swiftly. Those areas getting rain in the first half of June have likely experienced relatively good conditions for early germination, emergence and establishment. The coming two weeks of weather will continue to restrict rainfall in southern India while timely rain events occur in the central, north and eastern parts of the nation.
