France, Lower Danube River Basin Drought Unchanging

Kansas City, July 31 (World Weather Inc.) – Drought and unusually dry-biased conditions have dominated much of this growing season in France and the lower Danube River Basin. Weather during this past week did include some rain; although, amounts and coverage were well below that which was needed to fix the situation. Despite the short term bout of relief for some areas, the majority of both regions still have a huge need for significant rain to stop the decline of unirrigated crop production potentials and the next ten days will continue drier biased. Other areas in Europe received enough rain to maintain relatively favorable crop conditions during the past week and additional moisture during the coming week will continue to support good crop prospects.

Eastern Australia Rainfall Welcome; More Needed

Kansas City, July 30 (World Weather Inc.) – Queensland, interior portions of South Australia and New South Wales saw welcome relief from dry conditions during the past week. Periods of rain helped improve short-term conditions for the winter wheat, barley and canola; although, more rain was needed. Western Australia, southeastern South Australia, and Victoria saw several waves of rain during the past week that helped maintain favorable long-term production potentials. Periods of rain will continue for Western Australia through the middle of next week. Wheat, barley, and canola conditions will remain favorable. Other production areas will either receive light rain or will be mostly dry through the middle of next week. Queensland and portions of New South Wales will again dry down and the need for timely rain will increase later in August.

U.S. August Weather To Remain Favorable For Crops

Kansas City, July 30 (World Weather Inc.) – July weather was predicted by World Weather, Inc. to be favorable in key U.S. production areas, but the month was better than expected. Some of the areas predicted to have drier biased conditions ended up wetter bolstering summer crop production potentials above those already expected. The Delta and interior southeastern states dried out as expected. The weather patterns supporting all of this are unlikely to change greatly during the coming 30 days and that should lead to more support for a favorable production year. There will be some areas of net drying, but the dryness is not likely to be great enough to seriously threaten production.

East-Central China Drying To Persist One More Week

Kansas City, July 30 (World Weather Inc.) – Several areas in the North China Plain and southern sections of Shaanxi and Shanxi dried down during the past week due to a lack of rain and periods of warm to hot weather. These locations will continue to miss out on significant rain for at least the next seven days and will dry down further. Many areas in Henan, northern Anhui, and southern sections of Shaanxi and Shanxi already have a shortage of moisture. Additional drying may stress crops and could impact production potentials. Other locations in China have ample moisture to maintain aggressive growth. Waves of rain will keep the ground saturated for much of southern China and northern China in the coming days. In the meantime, Tropical Storm Co-May will advance into east-central China today and prevail through the end of the weekend resulting into local flooding in Jiangsu; though, the damage should be minimal.
