Canadian Prairies Harvest Will Be Impacted By Rain

Kansas City, September 12 (World Weather Inc.) – Harvesting advanced swiftly in a large section of the Canadian Prairies during the past week. Precipitation was limited in much of crop country, though southern fringes of Manitoba received significant rainfall during the past 24 hours. The lack of abundant rain elsewhere and warmer than normal weather helped producers get a significant amount of crops out of the ground. The harvest will be disrupted in the coming days as an upper-level disturbance brings varying amounts of rain to the Prairies. Eastern Saskatchewan and western fringes of Manitoba will receive enough rain to slow or even delay the harvest for several days. Minor quality declines will also be possible for some of the grains and oilseeds. Other locations will not be as wet, but could still receive enough rain to briefly disrupt harvesting and general fieldwork.
