Typhoon Kalmaegi Exiting Philippines, Heads For Vietnam

Kansas City, November 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Typhoon Kalmaegi moved through the Visayan Islands of the central Philippines Monday and early today. The storm will move across northeastern Palawan today and then move over open water in the South China Sea for two days. The system will finally reach the central Vietnam Coast Thursday and when it does there will be torrential rain, damaging wind and serious flooding. Some of the adverse weather will advance northwest into Laos and Thailand Friday into the weekend producing more flooding in those areas.

Portions of Center West Brazil Still Missing Rain

Kansas City, November 4 (World Weather Inc.) – Rainfall over the week ending Monday morning was limited once again in some important soybean crop production areas of southern Mato Grosso, northern Mato Grosso do Sul and southwestern Goias. These areas have seen a considerable amount of “sputtering rain” this spring, despite model forecasts that have frequently suggested significant rain was coming. Portions of Tocantins, northern Goias and crop areas east into Bahia and northern Minas Gerais were also dry, although their seasonal rain tends to arrive a little later in the season than in center west production areas. Rain is expected in these drier areas during the next ten days, although it will be important to see how well that rain eases long term dryness.
