High Pressure Aloft Over Brazil To Stymie Rain For 8-10 Days

Kansas City, December 22 (World Weather Inc.) – High pressure aloft is advertised to build over east-central Brazil through the coming five days and once it is fully in place it will prevail for several days longer. As a result, rainfall from Parana and eastern Mato Grosso do Sul to Bahia and neighboring areas will be stymied and temperatures will trend warmer than usual. Most computer forecast models are over advertising rainfall in Brazil during this period of time so be aware of the potential for a little market concern later in the week. For now, though weather conditions have been very good in Brazil and they will likely continue that way for much of the coming week, despite some drying. January rainfall will be very important.

Impressive Rain, Flooding In Northern California To Continue

Kansas City, December 22 (World Weather Inc.) – Rain developed in northern California and southern Oregon during the weekend and some of the rain totals were rather impressive. Flooding resulted in a number of areas and more storminess is expected this workweek that may contribute greatly to the rain already reported. Flooding may continue and could worsen in some communities. The rain will spread to the south into southern California as the week wears on. The warm ocean water between Hawaii and California contributed to the flooding rain as suggested would be the case earlier this month.
