Central, East U.S. And East Canada To See Stormy Weather

Kansas City, January 7 (World Weather Inc.) – A trough of low pressure is moving into the western U.S. today and will then move across the central part of the nation later this week. This trough will be made up of two weather disturbances, with the lead disturbance causing rain in the Hard Red Winter Wheat Region and Corn Belt late today through Thursday. The second disturbance will produce snow in a similar area Friday through Saturday while also producing significant rainfall from the Delta into Virginia. The precipitation will be beneficial in the Hard Red Winter Wheat Region; however, snow could cause some travel delays and livestock stress, especially near the Great Lakes, and rainfall from the Delta into Virginia could cause localized flooding. The Great Lakes region through Quebec, Canada may be more notably impacted by snow; though the west-central high Plains should be impacted as well.

Eastern Europe, Western Russia Bracing For Waves Of Snow

Kansas City, January 6 (World Weather Inc.) – A strong upper-level low-pressure trough will slowly make its way from Scandinavia into Russia during the coming week. Disturbances tracking around the disturbance will often generate snow from Central and Eastern Europe into western Russia. Snow will pile up from Germany, southern Poland, the Balkans countries and several areas from western Ukraine and Belarus into western Russia with temperatures trending colder than usual. The environment will become harsh for livestock resulting in animal stress. Travel conditions will be hazardous at times as well. Temperatures will also plummet below zero degrees Fahrenheit at times in northeastern Europe and neighboring locations of Russia, but sufficient snow cover will adequately protect winter crops in the region.

Weekly Citrus Weather For Tuesday, January 6, 2026

Kansas City, January 6 (World Weather Inc.) – A cold front brought frost and light freezes to portions of Florida’s citrus region during the past week. Most locations did not experience hard freezes and spray irrigation likely helped protect much of the citrus. Overall, production losses were suspected of being minimal. Warmer weather and a lack of rain will promote relatively good conditions for the ongoing harvest during the coming week. Brazil’s citrus areas saw a good mix of rain and sunshine during the past week with more on the way during the coming week. Citrus conditions will remain favorable. Mexico’s citrus areas will only have a few opportunities for spotty rain during the coming week. Harvesting should advance around the rain.
