Mexico Crops In Good Shape Despite Pockets Of Drought

Kansas City, September 3 (World Weather Inc.) – Several locations in Mexico were abnormally dry or under a moderate drought as of mid-August. Drier than usual weather was noted in recent weeks and led to gradual drying, most notably in portions of southern Mexico. However, there was enough rain to promote relatively good conditions for the summer grains, oilseeds, cotton, and other crops produced this time of year. Much of the country will see a good mix of monsoonal rain and sunshine during the coming week with additional rain likely toward mid-September. Short-term development conditions will remain favorable for much of the country.

Tropical Storm Saudel Still Impacting Southeast China

Kansas City, September 3 (World Weather Inc.) – After meandering around the region in recent days, Tropical Storm Saudel redeveloped just off the southeast China coastline. The disturbance brought heavy rain to several areas in southeastern China and may promote another round of flooding for pockets of Fujian, eastern Guangdong, and neighboring areas today into Friday. Maturation and harvesting will likely be sluggish or delayed until the ground has a chance to firm. Conditions for the harvest will vary across the remaining production areas in China during the coming week. Other locations south of the Yangtze River into Sichuan, the central Yellow River Basin, and portions of northern China will see a mix of rain and sunshine. Minor harvest delays will be possible in the wettest locations. The North China Plain will otherwise see more favorable conditions for the harvest as drier than usual weather evolves.
