East Australia Rain Brings Relief To Summer Crops

Kansas City, February 10 (World Weather Inc.) – After a record-breaking heat wave in January, much-needed rain fell in portions of eastern Australia during the past week. The rain was well-timed for crops that were not seriously harmed from the excessive heat. Production potential for summer grains, oilseeds, and cotton was likely reduced from the heat and recent rain was likely too late for some of the crop to rebound. Queensland and northern New South Wales will again see waves of rain during the coming week. Soil moisture will further increase for several production areas. Victoria and southern New South Wales will receive little to no rain. Production potentials are not expected to improve significantly due to the additional rain in Queensland and northern New South Wales.
