Argentina To See More Rain After Recent Precipitation

Kansas City, February 17 (World Weather Inc.) – Rainfall in Argentina earlier in the growing season was unevenly distributed, leaving many fields in the Pampas farming region with low soil moisture in January and earlier this month. Although development conditions were uneven at times, much-needed rain was noted in the main production areas during the past week. Several coarse grains and oilseeds reacted favorably to the rain and development conditions likely improved for some of the later-planted crops. The earliest-planted crops may be too far along to benefit much from the recent rain. Northern and central Argentina will see additional waves of rain during the coming week that may further improve development conditions for the later-planted crops. Buenos Aires will otherwise miss out on much of the rain. The region will have some moisture to support relatively good late-season growth for at least the next few days before drying down again later this month.
Center West, Center South Brazil Drying Improves Fieldwork

Kansas City, February 17 (World Weather Inc.) – A much-needed break from rain occurred from Mato Grosso to southern Minas Gerais and Sao Paulo, Brazil during the latter part of last week through Monday allowing the topsoil to firm beneficially for faster crop maturation and harvest progress in early soybean, first season corn, dry bean and other early season crops. Safrinha corn and cotton planting should have advanced favorably as well. Some of the driest areas in center-west and center-south Brazil need more rain in coming weeks to ensure favorable conditions for the safrinha corn. Brazil’s main production areas will see rain resume during the coming week. Harvesting and safrinha corn planting will advance around the periods of rain while the moisture is good for ongoing summer crop development and for the establishment of previously planted Safrinha corn and cotton.
North America Dryness May Factor Into U.S. Spring Weather

Kansas City, February 18 (World Weather Inc.) – A large part of North America is still dealing with some level of drought and/or dryness which raises some concern for the spring and summer coming up in 2026. This year’s outlook may be influenced by the transition from La Nina to El Nino which has often produced some dryness of its own while the lunar cycle is a little less dry unless one looks into the year 1972.
