Argentina Rain Improves Late-Season Growth

Kansas City, March 9 (World Weather Inc.) – Recent rain has bolstered soil moisture in the heart of Argentina’s key grain and oilseed production region improving late season crop development and production potential. Dryness continues a concern in the far southeast and northeast parts of the nation; though these areas minor contributors to the overall grain and oilseed production. Production potentials are more favorable now earlier this season due to periods of rain in February and earlier this month. Northern and southern fringes of Argentina will have a few opportunities for rain this week while other production areas trend drier. Late-season crop development conditions will improve or remain relatively favorable. Harvesting of the earliest-planted sunseed, rice, and other crops will also advance swiftly due to the lack of abundant rain.

Brazil’s Safrinha Crops To Receive Significant Rain

Kansas City, March 9 (World Weather Inc.) – Interior southern crop areas of Brazil have managed to dry out in the past couple of weeks and the need for rain is beginning to rise. Up until now the drying trend was ideal for the maturation and harvest of soybeans, first season corn, rice and dry beans as well as getting Safrinha crop planted. Dryness is becoming a bit more significant and it could become a threat to Safrinha corn emergence and establishment; however, weather changes in the coming week should bring timely rain to ensure a well-established crop. The precipitation boost may disrupt fieldwork for a little while, but the benefits will far outweigh any negative impact.
