India Unseasonal Rain Improves Winter Crop Yields, Quality

Kansas City, March 25 (World Weather Inc.) – Late winter crop yields and quality improvements were suspected because of recent rainfall in portions of India. The moisture and associated cloudiness also helped keep temperatures to a seasonable range also contributing to better crop development. The rain came too late for the bulk of reproduction, although some of the late crop should experience some production improvement. Only a small amount of crop in India was advanced enough for harvesting making the recent rain of little concern from a harvest perspective. Minor damage was noted in pockets of northern and central India due to hail, though the extent of the losses was not known. India will continue to be impacted by a few disturbances as they advance over the country through the middle of next week. Additional rain may slow maturation and harvesting at times, though no major delays or quality impacts are expected.

Tropical Cyclone Narelle To Impact Western Australia

Kansas City, March 25 (World Weather Inc.) – Tropical Cyclone Narelle continued to move parallel to the northern Western Australia coastline today after moving across northernmost parts of Northern Territory and northeastern Western Australia earlier this week. The disturbance will not take a direct path over Port Hedland, Western Australia, though a strong storm surge and localized flooding will be possible in the region possibly promoting minor structural damage. Ocean travel has been and will likely continue to be disrupted along most of the northwestern coast of the nation as the disturbance follows the coast. The storm is expected to intensify while tracking over warm water of the Indian Ocean before reaching the northwest corner of Western Australia late Thursday or early Friday. A shift to the south-southeast will then occur Friday and early Saturday taking the storm across far Western Australia where flooding will be possible from the Learmonth area through Shark Gulf, Geraldton and Perth.

Brazil Safrinha Corn Moisture Favorable With More Coming

Kansas City, March 24 (World Weather Inc.) – Waves of erratic rain were noted in much of Brazil’s crop country during the past week. Safrinha corn planting is over 90% complete and will be finishing up in the coming days. Establishment and early-season development conditions are favorable and will remain favorable as timely rain continues in the coming week. There will still be a need for timely rain in April to support ideal long-term production potentials. Soybean and first-season corn harvesting are also advancing across the country. The harvest will likely advance around periods of erratic rain in coming days.

Weekly Citrus Weather For Tuesday, March 24, 2026

Kansas City, March 24 (World Weather Inc.) – Seasonal rain in Florida citrus areas does not usually begin until sometime in May. Much of the crop is irrigated until then, but there has been some growing concern about drought in the state and some early season rainfall may soon be needed for those production areas that are not irrigated. Brazil’s citrus areas saw a mix of spotty rain and sunshine during the past week with more rain expected in the coming week. Late-season citrus development conditions will remain favorable. East-central and western Mexico’s citrus areas will also receive timely rain during the coming week. The need for timely rain is otherwise increasing in northeastern Mexico.
