Super Typhoon Sinlaku To Miss Major Agricultural Areas

Kansas City, April 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Super Typhoon Sinlaku continued to intensify this past weekend and is now one of the strongest tropical disturbances noted so far in 2026. The disturbance will advance over the Northern Mariana Islands in the coming days before shifting east-northeasterly into the central Pacific Ocean later this week and weekend. Super Typhoon Sinlaku is not expected to have a direct impact on any major agricultural areas. However, ocean travel will likely be impacted as the disturbance slowly travels across the Pacific Ocean this week.

Western U.S. Hard Red Wheat Misses Rain; Relief Unlikely

Kansas City, April 13 (World Weather Inc.) – Rain in hard red winter wheat areas during the past week behaved as expected with a restricted amount of dryness relief in the western parts of the production region. Much of the west-central and northwestern production areas are advertised to remain dry or mostly dry during the next ten days while a few showers occur in the Texas Panhandle. The best weather conditions for winter wheat will continue from north-central Texas through central Oklahoma to eastern production areas in Kansas where frequent rain is expected. Additional opportunities for rain may evolve later this month and in May and “eventually” there will be some greater rain in the driest areas, but it may come a little late for the best yields in 2026.
